A. Diagnosing new students' academic level.
B. Progressing through materials at students' own pace.
2. MASTERY

A. Each concept is mastered before proceeding to new material.
B. Allows each student to proceed according to their performance level.
3. ACADEMIC BALANCE

A. Students complete roughly the same number of PACEs in all subject areas.
B. Vocabulary and grammar usage are introduced and then integrated throughout all the subjects at a given level.
4. GOAL-SETTING

A. Learning to set realistic goals -- projecting responsibilities with available time.
B. Ability to set and enforce personal goals prepares students for college and for life.
5. MOTIVATION

A. Provided through encouragement and support.
B. Control is maintained through guidance and discipline.
6. MEASUREMENT

A. Diagnosing new students.
B. PACE has checkup, Self Test, and the PACE Test.
